I’m reaching the end of my book (finally) and I feel like there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. I know very shortly I’ll be typing those two little words that all authors love to see. But it’s not really the end. I have to go back and do all my timeline checks and geographical setups. I have to make sure that someone that died early on in the book isn’t still hanging out halfway through. (I’ve done that once already and it sucks; very time consuming to go back and replace all those names and adjust the scenes.) Then after all that I still have to go over the entire book again for editing; maybe two more times. And I just know I’ll change or add stuff; probably add. I’ve never edited any of my stories and ended up with less words than started with. But the feeling of relief when you type The End that first time is memorable. Since this will be my first full length novel (I’ve written a lot of short stories and a novella) for me it’s not really the end but a beginning as well.
Veronica Smith once fancied herself the next Carolyn Keene when she was but a pre-teen. When she reached adulthood, she wanted to be the next Stephen King or Anne Rice. Now that she's older and wiser, she realizes it's better to want to be herself and morphed into The Mistress of Horror. Besides writing, she developed an obsession for all things horror, and even started many petitions to make Halloween a year-long holiday. Despite the support of several Senators and a retired US President, the bill was vetoed in the House. To her chagrin, Halloween still remains a one-day holiday only. But she decided to improvise, putting out her Halloween decorations in the yard at Christmastime as well. So far no one has had her arrested for it. She and her husband live in Katy, Texas with their son and several pets, including a small horsed-size mastiff. https://www.amazon.com/author/veronicasmith https://www.amazon.co.uk/Veronica-Smith/e/B014JCZQT4 www.facebook.com/Veronica.Smith.Author https://twitter.com/Vee_L_Smith https://www.linkedin.com/in/veronica-smith-author/ https://www.bookbub.com/authors/veronica-smith https://kvzsmithwordpresscom.wordpress.com/ https://www.wattpad.com/user/kvzsmith View all posts by Veronica Smith
